Africa is a continent with plenty of natural resources. Yet it is battered by hunger, diseases, massive underdevelopment and all sorts of countless sufferings. The United Nations children's agency revealed that more than half of South Africa children live in poverty. Two thirds of child deaths were preventable with simple improvements in primary care for children.

The causes of poverty in Africa are deeply-rooted, interconnected and impossible. Africa encompasses some of the most resource-rich areas of the planet. Africa would, in fact, be capable of sustaining her economies and even giving aid to other parts of the world. However, a history of injustice set in motion a vicious circle of lack of resources to pay for education, and lack of education to produce and refine resources. This is compounded by devastating health problems, climate difficulties and economically advanced nations from the West which make sure that Africa does not sustain herself.

Judging this beautiful continent from its resources, one would expect to see its people cruising in an age of high mass consumption. Instead, Africa is full of people still struggling with their take off process.
