Elephant in a Room

"Struggle to survive"

An Elephant in a room can be base on the fact that an elephant in a room would be impossible to overlook. Therefore, people in the room can never pretend the elephant is not there as it is huge enough for everyone to notice it. For example; poverty in Africa is visible for everyone whether you stay in suburbs or in the rural areas.

Elephant in a room applies to the obvious truth that is being ignored. For decades Western leaders were in denial of the sufferings of Africans. They refuse to acknowledge the obvious truth that they perpetuated this situation in Africa. However, the denial of poverty is not a fairy tail, the elephant in the room shed light on the political underpinning of silence and denial of visible things. Today leaders through United Nations come together to find ways of alleviating poverty in Africa.

Poverty cannot be denied anymore, it is wide enough for everyone to see. People are dying of starvation everyday and some live in informal settlements. In every 5 kilometres you drive in Africa signs of poverty are there, the elephant is in the room.
