Of all forms of courage the ability to laugh is the most because it doens't just make you feel better, it combats pain, and cures a multitude of ills. It is probably the most important thing in a person.
laughter has been shown to lead to reduction in stress hormones such as cortisol. When laughing the brain also releases endorphins that can release some physical pain. Laghter also boosts the number of antibody- producing cells and enhances the effectiveness of T-cells, leading to a stronger immune system. However, only genuine laughter does the trick. If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane.
Indeed life is worth living as long as there is a laugh in it. Khalil Gibran once said 'in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed."
